College football’s opening weekend is ending with a pretty fun one.

No. 4 Notre Dame takes on Wisconsin Sunday night in a primetime matchup at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, giving fans a rare chance to watch a college game inside the home of the Green Bay Packers. The game is part of Notre Dame’s 2026 Shamrock Series and kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The best part for cord-cutters? You won’t have to hunt around for a specialty channel. Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin will air on NBC and stream live on Peacock.

Here’s everything you need to know about watching Sunday’s game, including the start time, TV channel, Peacock pricing and how you may be able to watch for free.

What time is the Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin football game?

Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 6.

The game will be played at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, making this a pretty memorable setting for the first game of the season. The matchup is part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series, which takes the Fighting Irish outside of South Bend for a marquee game.

What channel is Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin on?

The Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin game will air on NBC.

It will also be available to stream live on Peacock, so you have an option if you’re watching without a traditional cable package. NBC Sports lists the game for 7:30 p.m. ET on both NBC and Peacock.

How to watch Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin live

Have NBC through your cable provider? You’re all set. Just tune in Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.

If you’ve cut the cord, Peacock is the other place to watch. The streaming service will carry the game live, along with a wide selection of other college football coverage.

Can you watch Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin for free?

This is where Peacock gets a little interesting.

Peacock doesn’t currently offer a standard free trial when you sign up directly through its website. However, Peacock Premium Plus is available through Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that isn’t offered when you subscribe directly through Peacock.

So, if you’re eligible for the Prime Video trial, you may be able to use it to watch Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin without paying for a full month of Peacock.

As always, check the trial’s terms before signing up so you know when you’ll be charged if you don’t cancel.

    How much does Peacock cost?

Peacock currently has two subscription options.

Peacock Premium costs $12.99 per month and includes ads, while Premium Plus costs $19.99 per month and removes ads.

If you’d rather pay for a full year, Peacock’s annual plans essentially give you 12 months for the price of 10. Premium costs $129.99 per year, while Premium Plus is $199.99 per year.

There are a few other ways to get Peacock, too. You can bundle Peacock and Apple TV with plans starting at $14.99, or subscribe to Peacock through YouTube for $19.99 per month.

And, again, the Prime Video version of Peacock Premium Plus comes with a seven-day free trial.

Is Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin on Peacock?

Yes. The game will stream live on Peacock in addition to its NBC broadcast.

That means you don’t need a cable subscription to watch the game, provided you have an eligible Peacock subscription or trial.

What to know about Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin

Notre Dame heads into the season ranked No. 4 in the country after finishing 2025 with a 10-2 record. The Fighting Irish won their final 10 games of the regular season after opening the year with back-to-back losses.

Quarterback C.J. Carr is back for Notre Dame, while Marcus Freeman enters his fifth season as head coach. The Fighting Irish will have plenty of attention on them from the jump, particularly with a top-five ranking and a schedule that includes several big games.

Wisconsin has a different challenge in front of it. The Badgers are coming off a 5-7 season and have made major changes to their roster, bringing in more than 30 transfers. Quarterback Colton Joseph is among the new additions as Luke Fickell looks to get Wisconsin moving in the right direction.

Then there’s the venue. Sunday night’s game will be just the third college football game ever played at Lambeau Field, adding a little extra flavor to what is already one of the more intriguing matchups of the opening weekend.

Not a bad way to close out Week 1.
