Last week’s episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ended with a tragic death that cut the HBO show’s fans to the very core. Prince Baelor Targaryen (Bertie Carvel), the honorable heir to the Iron Throne, died after helping Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) defeat Prince Aerion Targaryen (Finn Bennett) in an epic Trial of Seven. Baelor walked away from the melée, but perished as soon as Steely Pate (Youssef Kerkour) and Ser Raymun Fossaway (Shaun Thomas) helped him remove his crushed helmet. The noble prince was struck in the head by his own brother, Prince Maekar Targaryen (Sam Spruell), in the fight.
So what happens now to Dunk and his adorable squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell)? Where will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms go next? How will the realm handle the death of its favorite son? Will Dunk get in trouble yet again? Will Egg get to leave his princely life behind to be a hedge knight’s squire?

Will There Be A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?
Good news! HBO has already renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 should come out sometime in 2027. The next season of the hit will adapt George R.R. Martin’s second “Dunk and Egg” novella, “The Sworn Sword.”
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms showrunner Ira Parker recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the next season will still be 6 short episodes. “I think the scope will be same, maybe even smaller,” Parker said. “The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation. Plus, book two takes place in a drought, so we can’t shoot exteriors in Belfast. We have to go to a sunny location with no water, which costs money — that’s a major expense that we did not have in season one.”
Parker also revealed that Martin has given him detailed outlines for twelve yet unwritten Dunk and Egg novellas that take the characters through the entirety of their lives. So we could be watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for many, many years to come.
