You can kick off spooky season a few weeks early by going to watch the new Insidious movie, aka Insidious: Out of the Further, aka Insidious 6, in movie theaters this weekend.
This is the sixth movie in the Insidious franchise, and a sequel to 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door. It all started back in 2010 with Insidious from director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell, who are now two of the biggest producers in horror movies under Blumhouse. Wan and Whannell are still producers on Out of the Further, but they hand the reigns over to screenwriter and director Jacob Chase, based on a story by Chase and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
Insidious 6 stars Amelia Eve as Gemma a young mother who discovers she has the ability to travel into the “Further” and summon spirits into the mortal world. It’s all fun and games until all the evil entities start to stream into our world! Brandon Perea and Maisie Richardson-Sellers all appear in the film too, with Lin Shaye reprising her role from the previous films. If you want to see the film but would rather wait to watch it at home, then read on for everything we know about when and where you’ll be able to watch Insidious 6 on streaming.

Where to watch the Insidious 6 movie Insidious: Out of the Further:
Insidious: Out of the Further will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. nationwide on Friday, August 21. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Insidious: Out of the Further is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the Insidious 6 movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?
Insidious: Out of the Further is not currently streaming on Netflix or Amazon, because the movie is being released in theaters, only. Right now, the only way to watch Insidious: Out of the Further is in a movie theater. That said, because Insidious: Out of the Further is a Sony movie, we do expect to see it streaming on Netflix eventually.
You will be able to purchase Insidious: Out of the Further on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Insidious: Out of the Further on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch Insidious: Out of the Further movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Netflix.
Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
When will Insidious: Out of the Further be streaming on Netflix?
Insidious: Out of the Further will likely be on Netflix sometime before the end of the year, around late November or early December 2026.
Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. One recent Sony movie, GOAT, began streaming on Netflix three months after the movie opened in theaters.
If Insidious: Out of the Further follows this same release pattern, you can expect Insidious 6 to stream on Netflix around late November 2026, aka three months after the movie opened in theaters. In the meantime, you can go watch the movie in theaters.
