After several years of Warner Bros. drama, the Coyote vs. Acme movie is finally opening in theaters today.
This part-live-action, part-animated comedy about the mischievous Looney Tunes cartoon character was filmed in 2022, and completed back in 2023. But in a bizarre move helmed by the new head of WB, David Zaslav, the finished film was shelved in November 2023, never to be released, for the purposes of a tax loss write-off.
Obviously, the film’s director Dave Green and the rest of the cast and crew who worked on the movie weren’t too thrilled about this. Thankfully, WB eventually agreed to shop the film around to other distributors. Now, finally, the movie is coming out, thanks to Ketchup Entertainment, a small production company that bought the distribution rights.
The film stars Will Forte as a down-on-his-luck attorney who takes on a new client, Wile E. Coyote, who is filing a personal injury lawsuit against Acme, for all the various injuries he sustained while trying, and failing, to catch the road runner. Given how hard the people behind this movie fought to get it on the big screen, this movie seems worth a trip to your local movie theater. But if you’d rather wait to watch it at home, then read on to find out when and where the Coyote vs. Acme movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the Coyote vs. Acme movie:
For now, Coyote vs. Acme will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, August 28. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Coyote vs. Acme is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is Coyote vs. Acme movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?
Coyote vs. Acme is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Coyote vs. Acme stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Coyote vs. Acme is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Ketchup Entertainment, who bought the rights to distribute the movie after Warner Bros. shelved the project.
You will be able to purchase Coyote vs. Acme on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Coyote vs. Acme on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Coyote vs. Acme at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.
When will the Coyote vs. Acme movie be on digital?
You might see Coyote vs. Acme on digital around late September or early October 2026.
Coyote vs. Acme‘s digital release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess based on the digital release of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, another movie distributed by Ketchup Entertainment, after the studio bought the rights from Warner Bros.
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie was released on digital about one month after opening wide in theaters. If Coyote vs. Acme follows a similar release strategy, you might see Coyote vs. Acme on digital to buy and rent around late September or early November 2026, aka about one month after the movie opens in theaters.
That said, digital releases vary by title.
Will the Coyote vs. Acme movie be streaming on HBO Max?
Even though Coyote vs. Acme is not being distributed by Warner Bros., you might still see the Coyote vs. Acme movie streaming on the Warner Bros-owned streaming service, HBO Max, at some point before the end of the year. After all, the Looney Tunes characters are still Warner Bros. property.
If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.
In the case of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, another Warner Bros-produced movie that was shelved and then eventually sold to Ketchup Entertainment, the movie did come to HBO Max, about three-and-a-half months after the film opened in theaters.
If Coyote vs. Acme follows the same pattern, you might see the Coyote vs. Acme movie on HBO Max around mid-December 2026, aka about three-and-a-half months after it opens in theaters.
But this is all speculation. If you want to see Coyote vs. Acme right away, you can catch the movie in a movie theater.
