FX‘s The Shards has been the ultimate summer treat: a hoot of a murder mystery satire, full of hot bods, bloody crime scenes, and multiple references to Joan Didion’s The White Album. So it comes as no surprise — yet with some sorrow — that The Shards is coming to end just as summer winds down. But when does the final episode of The Shards come out on FX and Hulu?
The Shards is Ryan Murphy and Bret Easton Ellis‘ adaptation of Ellis’ bestselling book of the same name. The story imagines the iconoclastic author retelling the “true” story of how he and his teen pals in 1981 Los Angeles got caught up in the crosshairs of a serial killer called the Trawler. Igby Rigney plays this heightened version of the teen Bret, who is convinced that new classmate Robert Mallory (Homer Gere) is secretly the killer. But is Robert guilty? Is Bret’s version of events even real? Who is actually responsible for the spate of abductions and murders and who is just projecting their own twisted fantasies onto tragedy?
